With this words you get introduced to the first, most epic album of the rock-opera in history, created by the Dutch multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen, under the name of “Ayreon“. Ayreon is a majestic musical project, divided in six albums (the seventh and last of them, “The Theory Of Everything” aren’t part of the concept, but has a story that has nothing to envy the previous albums) published from 1995 to 2008, narrate the story of the “self distruction” of the human race, all written, composed and arranged only by Lucassen (except some rare cases) _______________________________________________

ENG : Almost a month ago I asked Arjen the permission to use as musical base one of his songs, so I could make my video much more epic than I’ve imagined it. After reciveing a positive answer (♥), I started the looooong video editing. As base I used the prologue of the first album. I had in mind also other songs, but I needed a shorter one for the video. I tought of more particular scenes, but beeing unable to realize them, I opted for images in “fake” 3D, beeing limited by my PC. There are 4 quotes during the video, mostly hidden. Let’s see if you find them. There are some images I used for the intro right under.

ITA: Un mese fa all’ incirca ho chiesto il permesso ad Arjen di poter usare come base musicale una sua canzone così da rendere il video ancora più epico di come me lo sarei immaginato. Dopo aver ricevuto una risposta più che positiva(♥) ho iniziato la lunghissima fase del montaggio. Come traccia ho scelto il prologo del primo album, avevo in mente anche altri pezzi ma per i tempi abbastanza corti e per il montaggio ho deciso per questa, l ‘unica difficoltà l’ho trovata nei primi 30 secondi dove c’era l’intro parlato, nella mia testa avevo creato delle scene spettacolari, ma non avendo i mezzi per farle ho optato per delle immagini in falso 3D, nel limite del mio pc. Sono presenti anche 4 citazioni, più o meno velate in tutto l’arco del video, vediamo se qualcuno le coglie.Sotto ci sono alcune immagini che ho usato come base per l’intro [coll_layerslider id=”11″]
ENG: When I first discovered this band, it became my favourite ever. Since July I wanted to realize a Sculpture as tribute to this great artist. I’ve chose the starring part of the first album, Ayreon, the blind ministrel. He sings about the distruction of the human race, after having some visions from the future. Without having descriptions or images of him, I tought I should carve the pumpkin using the facial signs of the author, trying to stop the time at the moment when Ayreon recives the visions, through the hat, That became the eye of time (my vision of it) ________________________________________________________________
ITA: Da quando ho scoperto questa “band” è diventata la preferita in assoluto e da luglio che avevo in mente di realizzare una scultura come tributo a questo grande artista. La mia scelta è ricaduta sul protagonista omonimo del primo album, Ayreon, un menestrello cieco che dopo aver captato delle visioni dal futuro,canta l estinzione del genere umano. Non essendoci descrizioni o immagini di questo personaggio ho pensato di scolpire la zucca seguendo i lineamenti dell autore, cercando di fermare il tempo nel attimo in cui Ayreon riceve le visioni, tramite il cappello divenuto l occhio del tempo(questa è stata una mia rivisitazione).
The Final Experiment
ENG : After a couple of days since I made the Sculpture, my dad tells me we should do a mold of it. So I added the “making of” part (on the video I wrote “capoccia” in italian, because I didn’t knew the English meaning of a word That could have had the same meaning). The final result in cement doesn’t soddisfy me a lot, but I couldn’t have made it better with that materials (because of the lake of money). If you want to see the sculpture yourself, come to “La Roccia” restaurant, where I work. ______________________________________________________________
ITA: Dopo un paio di giorni che ho realizzato la scultura, mio padre mi fa:
” We! L’emma fa r’ calc?”
Così ho aggiunto la parte della lavorazione molto rudimentale ( nel video ho scritto “a capoccia” in italiano, perchè non conoscevo in inglese una parola che avesse lo stesso significato)sulla base di Ayreon’s Fate ( la mia preferita)sempre del primo album. Il risultato finale della scultura in cemento non mi soddisfa più di tanto anche se meglio di così con quei materiali era impossibile, ma non avendo come al solito soldi a sufficienza per sperimentare per ora mi sono accontentato.
